Mantralayam

Mantralayam is situated in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh,in India. Various Buses ply from Madras, Mumbai,Banglore,Hyderabadetc. It is 595 Km from Madras and 690 km from Mumbai and around 360 Km from Hyderabad. It has many tourist facilities for pilgrims to stay. It is situated on the banks of river Thungabadhra. It can also be reached by train. It is on the train  route between Mumbai-Madras , Delhi-Banglore , Hyderbad-Tirupathi. The station name is "Mantralayam Road", it is 16 Kms from Mantralayam. You can travel to Mantralayam from Mantralayam Road station by private Jeeps, taxis, autorickshaws or public bus. Approximate cost of travel per person is Rs.50 for private transport and Rs.4 for Public Bus.

Genrally,the temple is open between 06:00 and 14:00 and 16:00  to 21:00  (IST). Few years back the golden chariot was added and is an splendour to watch it come round the prahara. Silver and Ordinary Chariots are also there and is a divine feeling to watch it roll  round the temple's prahara.

Please remember that Mobile phones dont work in mantralayam and mantralayam is also well connected by phones, however you cannot make direct international calls through IDD, you can make international calls only by trunk call booking for an additional charge. There is also an internet parlour started recently near Hotel Guru Brindavan, which could be used to check personal emails(however remember the connection speed is very very slow). Most People in Mantralayam speak Kannada, Telugu,  and Hindi , but English and Tamil are spoken very rarely by people.

By Air: The nearest major airport is Hyderabad International airport which is located at a distance of about 351 km from Mantralayam. Hyderabad is well air connected to other major airports in India and abroad. Taxi services are available from the airport to Mantralayam.. Taxi fare to cover the distance from Hyderabad to Mantralayam is about Rs. 4000.

By Train: The Mantralayam road railway station is just 15 km away from the heart of the town. It is located in the rail route between Chennai and Raichur. Regular train services are available at this station to other nearby cities.


By Bus: Mantralayam town is well connected by AP State Road Transport Corporation buses. Regular and frequent bus services are available from Mantralayam to Kurnool and Hyderabad..

Mantralayam has hot summers and cool winters.

Summers (March to May) are extremely hot in this region with temperature reaching scorching levels of 44°C. Vacation tourists prefer to avoid hot days in April and May, but devotees still make use of the dry climate to visit the temples and Ashram.


Monsoons (June to September) are accompanied with medium to heavy rainfalls. The humid climate gives relief to the hot ambiance.


Winters (December to February) are pleasant with warm climate with temperatures are in the range of 18°C to 27°C.


Best Season to visit Mantralayam is October to March.


June to September is humid but pleasant with moderate temperature and suitable for short visits.


October to March is ideal for religious visits and all kinds of tourist activities. The season is ideal for visits in the Moola Bridavanam of Sri Guru Raghavendra Swamy.
